General Resources A303a Postgraduate Lounge ‘SCAtharsis’ has three desks with computers and a printer available for general use, a lounge area and kitchen facilities (fridge, microwave, boiling water, sink). You can receive weekly updates on current opportunities for postgraduates: skills courses, library resources and databases, conferences, public lectures and other events, via GradFlash, the free School of Graduate Studies Friday emailbulletin. A303a the Postgraduate Lounge has 4 networked G4 iMac computers suitable for basic word processing, email and Internet access, and printing with user-supplied paper. Labs A403 - Multimedia lab: 5 networked Computers. Resources for practiceVisual MediaPhotography: A large black and white darkroom, two smaller colour darkrooms, processing rooms and a photographic lighting studio. RA colour processor and an Ilfachrome colour processor. Students also have access to the digital lab on level 4. 35mm, medium format cameras and tripods can be borrowed for short periods. These facilities and equipment are shared by undergraduate and postgraduate students. For health and safety reasons the facilities can only be used when a lecturer or technician is in attendance. (See Cherie Winter Room A401C, tel: 8344 8570). Visual Arts:There are painting, printmaking and drawing studios; and workshop facilities in Metal, Ceramics, and Wood. These facilities and equipment are shared by undergraduate and postgraduate students. On level seven, rooms 701, and 715 have been set aside for postgraduates. For health and safety reasons the facilities can only be used when a lecturer or technician is in attendance. (See Stephen Cottrill A215 or A104, tel: 83448337; or Deb Williams, Room A711, tel: 8344 8269).Digital Media: A range of film, video and multimedia production and post-production facilities including television studio and video editing facilities are available on Level 4. A G5 computer is located in Room 413. (See Eileen Wall Room A411, tel: 8344 8738). Theatre StudiesTwo studio/rehearsal rooms on Level 4 in the Arts Centre Building: Room 419, a large sprung-floor space suitable for movement, dance and drama and Room 404, the black hole, a smaller multipurpose space. Postgraduate students can book rehearsal spaces free of charge (see Theatre Manager, Mark Richardson, Room A320, tel: 8344 8353). Postgraduates also have access to the open stage, a flexible performance space with a seating capacity of 150. This space can be booked through the Theatre Manager for public performance.
