Media Arts

Welcome to the department of Media Arts within the School of Creative Arts, Faculty of Arts, University of Melbourne

Media Arts offers theory and practical subjects in film, video, sound, radio, photography and New Media which aim to develop analytical, critical and creative skills. The course is unique in offering an holistic approach to a study of the media through subjects which integrate critical and practical concepts. In Media Arts students have many opportunities to create projects across art forms using media and to engage in critical debates about film and media issues. Current media practitioners are involved in teaching the course and as visiting lecturers. A TV studio, digital sound, image and video edit facilities and film theatre as well as a photographic studio and colour and black and white darkrooms are all part of the Media Arts Facility.
