Venues

The following venues will be used during the conference. Please refer to the Campus Map to identify where key venues are located.


Arts Centre building, corner of Swanston and Grattan Sts, Carlton; Building no. 199, K21 on the main campus map. You can enter the building either from Swanston St or from the courtyard on the other side of the building. This is the meeting and registration point for the conference and each day will begin in the foyer here. Morning and afternoon tea, as well as tea and coffee each morning before the day’s sessions begin, will be served in the foyer outside the theatre. Women’s toilets are even floors and men’s are on odd floors near the lifts. Level one has both men’s and women’s toilets.

The Open Stage theatre can be found off the foyer level 2 of the Arts Centre Building. Keynotes and launches will be found here.


Rooms 222, 223 (level 2), 319 (level 3) and 409, 419 (level 4) are all located in the Arts Centre Building. Lifts can be found on level 2 (Swanston Street level). All floors can be accessed by stairs.


The Student Union Building (Union House, Building 130 on Map) has ATMs, pharmacy, food court, dry cleaning service, information centre, STA travel, internet access in the student computing centre and several other services.


The Grand Buffet Hall (between 1st & 2nd floors, Union House) will be the lunch venue for the duration of the conference. Access by main staircase in the centre of Union House, near information centre.


The Kelvin Club (Melbourne Place, Melbourne VIC 3000) Telephone: 9654 5711 is the conference dinner venue. Enter from Russell street near Bourke corner in the city centre.


The Malthouse Theatre (113 Sturt Street Southbank). Take any tram through the city and get off at the VCA (Grant St Stop) and walk towards the red smoke tower (chimney). Alternatively take tram No 1 (South Melbourne tram) from Swanston St and alight at stop #19 for The CUB Malthouse.


Lygon St has many restaurants and shops and runs parallel to Swanston St to the east.


The City Centre can be reached on any of the trams departing Swanston St heading south.


University College apartments and other colleges are located to the north of the main campus, a 5-10 minute walk along College Cres.
