Synopsis:
In the first decade of the 21st century, the once-proud University of Melbourne, and higher education across the land, were in disarray. Federal funds were at all time lows, while the student union and campus services were suffering a slow and painful death. One man envisioned a plan to rescue the University from the quagmire, to remodel it to fit the times, to recast it in his own image. This is his story.
Melbourne Model: The Musical is an all singing, all dancing extravaganza of political satire, written by creative arts student Fregmonto Stokes. The musical tells the compelling story of the introduction of the Melbourne Model to Melbourne University, seen through the eyes of a young liberal Wally, as Vice Chancellor Glyn Davis seduces Wally and the Student Union to 'dream large'. Kevin Rudd makes a cameo appearance, there's a tango, a rap, a thumping Russian dance and plenty of action as the Wally discovers the "truth about" Glyn Davis and the Student Union tries to save the university before its too late.
